NYU College of Dentistry [3] Dean Edward G. Kaufman has received the Dr. Herbert L. Taub Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contributions to the dental profession. The award was presented to Dean Kaufman by Dr. John Iacono, Chair of the Nassau County Dental Society (NCDS) [4] Awards Committee, at the Society's Annual Installation.

A past president of the NCDS, Dean Kaufman served as a member of the Board of Governors of The New York State Dental Association and a delegate of the American Dental Association House of Delegates.

Edward Kaufman received his D.D.S. degree from NYU's College of Dentistry. Following service in the U.S. Army Dental Corps, he returned to New York University where he joined the dental faculty in 1946. He was appointed a professor in 1967 and served subsequently as a department chairman, division head, associate dean, and acting dean prior to being appointed dean of the College in 1985.

As dean, Dr. Kaufman has overseen more than a decade of improvement in the College's academic offerings and in the quality of the College's services in the New York metropolitan region.
